I sought out to make a traditional Chinese Qipao as my very first life size garment.
Through material research, repurposing my late grandfather's brush painting, and moodboarding, I went ahead and made my idea come to life.
After some initial sketches, I used Clo3D to get a sense of the patterning, then inferred my render to modify a preexisting dress pattern. The floral designs across the front and back of the dress were hand painted with fabric dye. My finished product consists of me wearing the Qipao against a backdrop of my grandfather's poetry.
